Tag it. Scan it. Find it.
When someone finds your lost item, they simply scan the QR code to find out how to return it to you. The contact details and information they can see are totally controlled by you (name, email, phone, custom message or nothing at all). The genius of Boomerang® is both owners and finders don't need to share their details for items to be returned.
All you have to do is tag & register your belongings to your account.
As an owner, you don’t need to share any personal details to have your belongings returned—just like finders don’t have to risk sharing theirs.
Imagine you tagged your headphones but choose not to leave any visible contact details. You accidentally left them in a café, where it was later found by someone who had served you that morning. Here’s what would happen:
- The barista scans the tag and sees an orange "Found me?" button, allowing them to leave a note:
"You left your headphones at the café. They are with us, please come to collect." - You would then receive an email from Boomerang® notifying you that a note has been added to your lost item:
"You left your headphones at the café. They are with us, please come to collect."
With this simple process, you can retrieve your headphones without having shared any personal information, and the finders details remains anonymous as well.
Of course, if you prefer, you can choose to share a phone number, email, or a custom message, which the finder can choose to use. You can even set different privacy preferences for different items! By default, however, everything remains anonymous.
Stating the obvious, the café doesn't want to steal your headphones, and doesn't want them lying around either! You likely didn't know it was at the café either, as it could've been in a few places visited that day, and now you will tell everyone how nice the staff were at that café. Everyone wins.
Find more, waste less.
That’s why we created BoomerangTag®, the smartest & simplest way to ensure you find whatever you lose.
It’s our mission to help sustainable lifestyles succeed. Starting by returning 100,000 lost items.
From lost to found.
Sean is right—the entire concept relies on a finder to assist. But that's precisely its strength, and the chances of your finder scanning and returning it are quite high.
Here's why:
We tend to lose things in the same common places—where finders are often café owners, train stewards, hospital staff, and other amazing people.
We learned from a paramedic that the number of phones and other items that get left in ambulances is super high, and they are so hard to return. Our system enables quick and easy returns, allowing them to focus on what truly matters.
The good people described above really don't want your phone, laptop or headphones, they will simply take up space for them. Meanwhile they know their value to you, and how happy you'll be to get your item back.
